The projection of damage generated by blasting, whether in banks, ramps, glaciers, in open pit mining, or horizontal developments in underground mining, has been a subject of research for years. However, the focus has been on generating criteria based on PPV (Particle Velocity) and visual evaluation, which lacks representativeness and precision.
At MATGEO SpA we have developed a methodology that incorporates calibrated computational simulations of effects that produces a blast in terms of Dynamic Stress (Shock Waves) and laboratory tests that recreate a blast (of several hundred MPA), in order to review as a whole effects on damage generated by currently used blast builds or project new builds in order to maximize effects, such as improving fragmentation, and reducing damage.
